Interview practice routine

A 30-Minute Interview Practice Routine That Produces Feedback

A short session works when it has a clear input, a recorded performance, and one action to test afterward. The routine below fits into a normal weekday.

Minutes 0–5: Choose the target

Select one job description and one weakness. The weakness might be long openings, missing ownership, weak results, or poor recovery after follow-ups. Write it in a single sentence.

Minutes 5–20: Run three questions

  1. A role-specific technical or functional question.
  2. A behavioral question using one of your strongest examples.
  3. A surprise follow-up or boundary question.

Answer aloud without restarting. Restarts hide the exact transition that needs work.

Minutes 20–27: Review the pattern

Find one repeated issue rather than every small imperfection. Check the opening, ownership, evidence, result, and recovery as separate stages.

Minutes 27–30: Define tomorrow’s test

Rewrite one answer spine and decide what “better” will look like: shorter opening, clearer personal action, or a concrete result. Repeat the same target in the next session so improvement is measurable.
